Hi,

I've looked around the forums extensively and haven't been able to find the solution I'm looking for - it may be that I don't know what to look for though!!

I'd like to ste up a sub domain for storing/transfering data fiels in a password protected environmnet - I preume I need to use the FTP route, but nor sure how to go about it including setting up password protection etc.

I'm sure it's real easy, but I'm a beginer at web site managment etc so just missing it, any help greatfully received, thanks.

You can create an ftp account in cpanel

create it using the desired folder_name and password

This will create the folder

ftp access is

ftp address: ftp.yoursite.com

login name: folder_name@yoursite.com

password: password

no remote folder needed.

You can then also in cpanel create a sub-domain by the same name if desired.

Don,

Thanks for your help, I've managed to set up the FTP account, but don't seem to be able to save or retrieve any files from it. Do I need special software or should I be able to do this from explorer etc? - I've set the FTP site up in "My network Places" within IE. I can see it and open it, but get errors when I try to read or write to it.

Thanks again for your help
