alison Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 I'm new to using cPanel, but I've read all the documentation and cannot seem to find one piece of very basic information. I hope I'm not overlooking something obvious. I'm trying to set up a mailing list that is announcement-only...i.e., subscribers cannot post to it, only the list administrator can. Is there an option for setting it this way, and if so, where? Thanks! Quote
rayners Posted January 29, 2003 Posted January 29, 2003 In my quick perusal of Mailman just not, I do not see any explicit option to do just that. But through a combination of a few options, you can accomplish something like what you want. In the Privacy Options page for the list, turn on "Must posts be approved by an administrator?" and "Restrict posting privilege to list members? (member_posting_only)" and then add your address (the address you want to be able to post from) to the "Addresses of members accepted for posting to this list without implicit approval requirement" list. You would probably also want to turn off "Send mail to poster when their posting is held for approval?" in the General Options page. With these options set like that, anybody other than you will have any attempts to post to the list held for approval, which you can just deny. Any posts from you will automatically go through and out to the list. Quote
MothaCuss Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 Well, on the email accounts, how many emails are allowed to be sent out per hour? I would rather just keep a text list that peoples email addy's are sent to when the fill in a form, and press subscribe, and then use that text file for the addresses. Is this possible? I tried editing the general information page of the mailing list thing, where you subscribe, and i tried to remove everything except the subscribe part. This makes the subscribe button not work...any way around that? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 In the Privacy Options page for the list, turn on "Must posts be approved by an administrator?" I don´t find that one. -Thomas Quote
TCH-Don Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 we do limit the number of outgoing mail in a certain amount of time though, 50 outgoing e-mails every 300 seconds (5 minutes) Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted January 14, 2004 Posted January 14, 2004 I know that. But it doesnt make it easier to find the Must posts be approved by an administrator. Sorry -Thomas Quote
