I recently registered a domain with TCH. It shows up as active in my account which is cool, but I also see this message:

ORG new registrations, transfers and changes are subject to acceptance by the registry which is currently off-line for maintenance. We will process your registrations, transfers, and other changes as soon as the registry becomes available. Please know that this may take up to one-week to process.

Is this saying my domain might not be active for up to a week?

Thanks....

Great, thanks for the reply. Is there anything else I need to do? I have set the DNS servers for the domain. I guess I expected to see more of a DNS management interface...i.e. create records. Is this done automatically?

Sweet indeed! I am still a little confused though. Using nslookup, I did the following. Any idea why I'm getting the "bad error value" when attempting the LS -D command?

> server a.gtld-servers.net

Default Server: a.gtld-servers.net

Address: 192.5.6.30

> matthenderson17.com

Server: a.gtld-servers.net

Address: 192.5.6.30

Name: matthenderson17.com

Served by:

- ns3.totalchoicehosting.com

66.11.163.212

matthenderson17.com

- ns4.totalchoicehosting.com

66.11.163.213

matthenderson17.com

> server ns3.totalchoicehosting.com

Default Server: ns3.totalchoicehosting.com

Address: 66.11.163.212

> ls -d matthenderson17.com

What IP address were you given in your welcome letter for hosting of this domain? If it wasn't 66.11.163.212, please drop a help desk ticket with SITE DOWN in subject.

Pertinent info to include:

Username

Password

Domain name

NS listed in welcome letter

IP address listed in welcome letter

HelpDesk

Thanks.

Just for the sake of discussion, how does all of the DNS stuff shake out? I come from a large corporate network environment (25,000 users) and the only DNS I know is Microsoft in that type of situation. I'm accustomed to having a nice console in front of me...and being able to create my own records, view dynamically created records, etc. Here, I feel like I've bought a house, and I'm being forced to stand outside and peer in the window. Would someone mind filling in a sheltered Microsoft admin? I'm sure I have probably overlooked something on my Control Panel. :(
