Smtp And Pop Over Ssl

Is it possible/allowed for us to use POP over SSL (port 995) and also SMTP over SSL (port 465) ? I tried to use it, but my email client said "Invalid server certificate". The certificate showed that it has been Issued by plain dot rackshack dot net. Is it possible to use the same certificate as we use for HTTPS ?
