SEO Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 (edited) Jon: Your site has been added to our Extended Family page. SEO thoughts will be coming shortly. Edited October 19, 2003 by dsdemmin Quote
SEO Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 SEO thoughts: You are not in the Google index The best way to be included within Google is to have Google follow a link from an outside page to your site (Google calls this a backlink). We have included you on our family pages which will help in getting you indexed. The more sites that link to you the better Random order evaluation: 1. You need alt tags on all you images (width and height values would be advisable as well). Place real descriptions in those alt tags. Example: Change: To: 2. See a typo: meditators vs. mediators 3. Change Home on all your pages to: Home Explanation: Search engines index specific URLs, not pages. Thus, http://www.tiferetinstitute.org and http://www.tiferetinstitute.org/index.php are two different URLs. If you reference both, you will end up with both being indexed which will result in a sharing of 'credit' (e.g. PageRank) between both URLs. Much better to be consistent and feed all 'credit' to just one. Make sense? The title attribute is a little SEO bonus 4. You could add a title attribute to all you links (with keyword phrase). e.g. title="Meditation Classes and Retreats" 5. I would like to see three header tags surrounding a keyword phrase. How about adding: H1 { FONT-SIZE: 12px; LINE-HEIGHT: 16px; FONT-FAMILY: verdana, sans-serif; font-weight : bold; color : Black; } Then changing What is meditation? to
What is meditation?
Same for 'What is Jewish meditation?' too. 6. Add one more Header, how about:

Jewish Meditation

This would place 'Jewish Meditation' right above the upcoming events image (a top of page keyword phrase header). 7. Submit this site to dmoz. Nice site! Good luck Quote
