TCH-Thomas Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Joomla 1.7 has been released. This is a security release. This is also the first release made within the new six-month release cycle that started with the delivery of Joomla 1.6 in January 2011. Version 1.6.5 will reach end of life one month from today, on 19 August 2011. All users of version 1.6 should update to version 1.7.0 before that time. Read more / Get it at: joomla.org/announcements/release-news/5380-joomla-170-released.html Before you plan to upgrade to version 1.7, you should upgrade any existing joomla installation to version 1.6.5. This is because they say that upgrading from Joomla 1.6.5 to Joomla 1.7 will be relatively easy. If your exisiting joomla installation is prior to 1.6.5, the upgrade will be more difficult to do, especially if you are still using version 1.5. TCH-Thomas Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 A small addition to my initial post in this thread... Before updating, make sure your template and extensions will work with version 1.7. I have followed the discussion at forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=637126 and there seems to be a few problems. Quote
