curtis Posted August 27, 2003 Posted August 27, 2003 I know next to nothing about Linux but want to learn. Has anyone tried Xantros. Sounds very easy to install. Any comments or opinions welcome. curtis Quote
borfast Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Curtis, I can't believe I let this post slip through without an answer! Unfortunately, I don't know Xandros but from everything I've read, it looks a nice Desktop OS. But I think I'd still go for Fedora Core (ex-Red Hat) or Mandrake, though. Quote
curtis Posted March 14, 2004 Author Posted March 14, 2004 Raul, I had forgotten I made this post. I tried Mandrake with Live CD and was going to use it but back in Dec. a friend installed Xandros on his box. I really liked it so I ordered the Deluxe Edition but I've been pressed for any free time to install. When I get it going maybe I will do a review here. Thanks for the reply. Quote
borfast Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 Great, I'll be looking forward to your review Quote
Amoraq314 Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Xandros looks like a nice OS, its got a geat graphical interface. I personally would still prefer to use debian thoug, because Xandros seems to be based off of that and the graphical interface is actually just KDE. I'm not sure if this works, but someone suggested copying all the config files for Xandros over to debian if you like the interface a lot. That way you don't lose any functionality at all. Quote
