clough Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 A few hours ago my vBulletin forum stopped working. When I click a bookmark link I get a blank page and "Stopped" in the line at the bottom of my browser. The little Firefox rotating gif at the top of the page runs and runs. What does this mean? I don't have a clue what to do. I can't get to the admin CP or anything. Checked cPanel and no bandwidth or disk space problem. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Welcome to the forum, clough. Have you tried it again after posting here. I´m thinking it may just have been a temporary server problem. If it still doesn´t work and you have not made any changes to the vbulletin files or your account in general, please submit a ticket with the help desk and ask the techs to look into this. Quote
clough Posted December 15, 2009 Author Posted December 15, 2009 Well, everything is working now. As best I can tell it was my own browser. The odd thing is that I was able to navigate anywhere except my forum, all my bookmark links and all the internal links on pages that were still open seemed to be affected, but nothing else. I managed to get in to the forum in a round about way through some other links. Once I restarted my browser everything worked fine and the forum had been up all along as I could tell from the post times. I've never had anything like that happen before. It was one frantic evening, but I learned something new about browsers. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Welcome to the forums clough I've had issues with Firefox lately myself. You probably had a corrupt cookie and restarting the browser corrected it. Usually pressing CTRL + F5 together will clear your cache and get you going again. Other times you need to shutdown the browser and restart it. And even other times you need to totally reboot your machine. Glad it's sorted out for you. Quote

I tried to submit a support ticket but couldn't log in there. I typed in my email address and the password I use here on the TCH forum. Do I need to create a separate account for support? Actually I'm glad I wasn't able to log in as the problem was with my browser. But next time.... Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 You don´t need to log in to the support to submit tickets. Just click the "Submit ticket" link. When you receive an email that there has been a reply to your ticket, you will need to log in though. In that email, the password should be provided. When submitting tickets, make sure to enter an valid email address that is not linked to your domain. Quote
