I'm getting a NAS drive and want to know if there is a specific port number I need to open on my router so I can access it from another network.

 

I guess I'm asking if it possible to to give it an IP address.

That all depends on the NAS drive itself. I have one running that supports standard http and ftp ports, as well as allows the setting of custom ports. Unless you have dedicated IPs from your ISP you will need to set what ever port you want on the router to forward the standard port of the NAS drive on your local network.
