and which file in wordpress do you copy the CODE snippet into?

I assume you want to put them in your sidebar. So you need to pick a spot in your sidebar.php file of the theme you are using and insert it.

 

If your theme supports widgets you may be able to use the TEXT widget to do the inserting and place the TEXT widget where you want it to appear in your sidebar.
