Passwording A Website

Hello,

 

I am trying to password protect a new website. I go into cPanel, Password protect directories, select the www directory (I want it pw protected at the front), check Password protect website box, with domain(directory) name listed, save it, then create a user with password. I then pull up the website I just passworded, type in the user, then pw in box, but it does not allow me in. I have to uncheck the protect box again to get in. I have made several users, both with same and different pw's but to no avail, regardless of the pw i use for the user I created, nothing lets me in.

 

Can anyone help please?

While I haven´t used the password feature in cpanel for a long time, it sounds like you are doing it correct.

 

You might want to submit a ticket with the helpdesk and ask them to take a look at it (if there is a bug etc in cpanel). Link on top of page and in my signature.
