How recent are the DB's in the Backup page in the CPanel? It's .gz files - are they generated every some period, or some how generated "live"?

Also, how do you restore it if need be — do I unzip it first, or feed it the original .gz file?

Thanks in advance!

The backups are done 'live' whenever you request one. You can set up a cron job and script to do automatic backups if you want to.

The best way to restore, is to upload the gz file to the server, open a ticket at the help desk, and ask us to restore it for you.

thanks for reply! 'live' compressed backup is very good news.

how about "restore option in cpanel, will it take the gz file generated by cpanel?

the script you're talking about -- is that something already exist as part of the cpanel, or it's something i'd have to find/write?
