My host has limited (probably per hour) the number of times my site can query (get or update data in) the database.

I have an art site with a lot of images and I add regularly. They advertise 3000 bandwidth with my plan. I don't believe I'm using that much. I just redesigned my site to a Oscommerce site in August and rank in the top 5 of my popular keyword on Google. My site has started to go down often within the last 2 weeks. My host suggested a virtual server. I'm looking for a plan with the same support as shared but less sites per server. I don't want to install software on the server and a novice in server setups. Do you have a plan for my needs?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum, kmitch2026. :)

If you are wanting a server where you don´t have too many neighbours so to speak, I would look in to a dedicated server. You can read more about them here.

Here is an unmanaged versus fully managed comparison chart for the above link.

One thing to remember though is that TCH puts a limited amount of people on the servers and does not "oversell" them, so everyone on the server can enjoy its resources.

I don't need a dedicated server, but my host did recommend a virtual server. Is that the same as virtual hosting? If so, would your expert plan work for my site?

Yes, this is a virtual servers (if I understand what your current host is telling you correct).

As for which plan to go with, without knowing your exact needs (ie how much space you use now and average bandwidth use/month) it is difficult to recommend a plan but you can always upgrade/downgrade at anytime if you want/need. :)

I forgot to link to the other hosting plans...

Virtual and reseller plans. Reseller plans are pretty much the same as virtual plans but you have more control over them and can do more with them.

They may also be recommending a Virtual Private Server or VPS, which we do not currently offer. It's hard or me to make a recommendation though without knowing more about your site such as traffic, etc..
