Mailbox Size Exceeded

I didn't realize that I had left the number of messages at a low number, and now have had people tell me that their mail could not get through because the mailbox was full. I have since changed the setting--but my question is--is there any way to retrieve the messages that were stacked up when the size was exceeded? I have the mail forwarded to Outlook so do not have the webmail to access.

If the mailbox is full, the emails usually bounce back to the sender with a message about it, so the sender can resend the email, so I believe the email has not even reached in your mailbox.
