Spinland Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 Okay ... In the Bad Old Days I made web pages with just a freeware text editor, and that was fine 'cause there wasn't much one could do anyway. Now the things are so jazzy and complicated I'm more than okay with using a page builder, and CSB seems really good thus far. Still ... Sometimes I want to insert some code, pasted into the page exactly as I copied it from some source -- the linkback snippet to TCH, for example. I can use the insert HTML Gem feature, but it seems to insist on having some placeholder graphic at the spot; all I want is the text link to appear. I've been gimmicking the system by manually editing the HTML outside of CSB but there just has to be a better way, methinks. CSB gurus: some enlightenment? Thanks! Spinny Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 (edited) That is just a placeholder in your tlx file, or your Cute Site Builder document. it will not appear on your site when you publish. It wiil let you modify the html by just double clicking on it later. What page is the new link on? I do not see it. I see you had resized you site to fit 800x600, but now it is larger again. Spinland Posted July 17, 2003 Author Posted July 17, 2003 Ah, so it's as easy as my making it more complicated than it is. Goof Thanks! I haven't published the changes yet, so the links won't show until I've got things sqared away. Had a copyright mix-up on my main graphic so had to do a quick yank-n-replace this morning to get the correct one up, and neglected to resize the replacement. D'oh! Thanks for the alert, I'll be sure to add that to the fix list before I upload this lot. Cheers! Spinny Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 (edited) Also if you do not like the place holder because of its size, you can make your own and browse to to it when inserting html. Or you can rplace the original BuildYourOwn.gif at C:\Program Files\GlobalSCAPE\CuteSITE Builder\PagePlug-ins\BuildYourOwn\ just rename the original as BuildYourOwnOld.gif and save the new on as BuildYourOwn.gif in that folder. Why? the large place holder can distort tables when inserted inside. This is what mine looks like Edited July 17, 2003 by turtle Quote
Spinland Posted July 17, 2003 Author Posted July 17, 2003 Very good thing to know; thanks yet again! Got the changes published, went off without a hitch. Dance Spinny Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 17, 2003 Posted July 17, 2003 Cool! Now on the map right click the pages, select properties, and set the short title to a name like contact to replace the id18.htm You are doing good! Thumbs Up Quote

TCH-Don Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 You are welcome Mark, you may want to change the targeting option of those very cool buttons <A HREF="gallery.htm" target="_blank" change to <A HREF="gallery.htm" target="_top so it won't open a new browser window with each click. Thumbs Up Quote
Spinland Posted August 7, 2003 Author Posted August 7, 2003 Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! Goof Try it now? Thanks! Mark Quote
TCH-Don Posted August 7, 2003 Posted August 7, 2003 Yep, that did it. I love those buttons Thumbs Up Quote
Spinland Posted August 7, 2003 Author Posted August 7, 2003 Thankee kindly! It's a technique I worked out last week doing the woodcut logo job. Like most such things it seems so simple, now. It was more difficult wrapping my poor tired brain around the javascript to make the rollover effect than to make the buttons themselves! That's when I remembered your post above, visited the links in question, and in less than an hour all my pain had been eased. Nerd Quote
