Guest jasgp Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi, We've got a website running Joomla on another web server, and our contract is due to expire soon, so I'm looking at TCH as an alternative option. Here's my story: a few months ago, the site was running really smoothly, but in the fast few days it's been unbearably slow (despite the fact that we haven't changed much on it, so I don't know why it would be so slow these days). I contacted their site support, and they told me that it was due to global PHP max timeout settings. The thing is, it was really really simple code (afaik) that was being run. Even clicking on a link on our website would cause a server 500 error, or a timeout. They told me that there was nothing they could do, that it wasn't a hosting issue that they could help me with (unless I paid for a VPN subscription for $90/month). I have no idea why my site would grind to a halt like that -- but I can't imagine what I could have done on the site to make it that slow... which makes it hard for me to guess what's happening. So I know you guys can't really answer detailed questions about that, but I guess I'm asking you if you've ever had any trouble with sites running Joomla, or Simple Machines forum? We have a fairly extensive Joomla site, and if you guys think that maybe these problems would be alleviated on TCH, I'd love to move here. Thanks for reading. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Welcome to the forum, jasgp. I am personally running a Joomla site and it works fine on the TCH servers, and as far as I know, no one that is running an SMF forum here have problem. Quote
Guest jasgp Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi Thomas, Thanks for your quick reply. I've been frustrated all morning trying to work on my site and getting absolutely nothing done... I think I will be moving over to TCH very shortly. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 You should not find any problems running a joomla site here. When you signed up and have settled down, please pop in to the introduction forum for a formal welcome. Quote
