Tassadar Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 (edited) Is there a way to setup mail accounts within my website to require some sort of authentication (that sender has an account) before allowing SMTP (outgoing mail)? I am interested in this so as to prevent spam from using my outgoing mail system. Thanks for the response in advance CC Edited March 30, 2007 by Tassadar Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 If you are using a POP client that's the only way it will work. However that does not stop someone from spoofing your account and sending email as you although they can't send it through your domain. Example: you@att-domain.com but you set the return to be someone@you-domain.ext any bounced emailed that way will come back to your domain and not the stt-domain.com Quote

My concern was that my domain could potentially be used to send outgoing email without my permission, ie. spam or other malware stuff. Thank you. CC Quote
