Mae Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I'm starting to average a 1000 hits a week on my website. How does the traffic effect your site (I can't think of the right word(s) here.)? I've heard people say that they got so many hits their site couldn't support it and their host would shut them down until they upgraded. I don't get that. How does that work? How many hits does it take before you need to upgrade, or is that just rumor? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 I have never had it happen to me but I would think that it depends on what your content is. If there are lots of images, big files for people to download, etc, it would go faster for you to get suspended due to running out of bandwidth. But a "normal" site would need many many thousands of visitors per day for it to happen (I think). Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Its not how many visitors but how much bandwidth is used. Look at cpanel > Web / Ftp Statistics > Bandwidth to see how much is used and compare that with how much is in your plan. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Yes and no Don. If you have too many connections to your site at once can also be a problem. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 True good point. If you are going by a page counter it may not be accurate. Most increment with each page refresh. Check your stats. Quote
