My domain is hosted by TCH and I use pop (via thunderbird) to access my mail at this domain. However, I notice that I cannot enable TLS or SSL so the user/password exchange is secure.

Does TCH support secure pop? I can't find any documentation on it on the site.

If not, can you please enable it? This is critical for me as well as others, as many of us now access our email from open wi-fi hot spots. (coffee shops, airports...)

Welcome to the forum, envy :thumbup1:

Under advanced change your servers to;

Secure SMTP: port 465

Secure POP3: port 995

The first time you pop you wiil see a cert warning, click ok to use it.

I tried to change the settings to use SSL and port 995 (I am using thunderbird under linux), but get a "connection refused" error. Using wireshark to sniff the packets shows that the remote server (server34) is sending a TCP RST when my client tries to open the connection.

A couple of other notes:

1) I can access other non-tch mail servers using secure pop and smtp so its unlikely that the connection is being blocked at my end or in the middle. ( unless comcast really really hates you and just you... :) )

2) I distinctly recall this as working till a few months ago and then it just stopped one day. I changed the settings to use regular pop, which worked, so I just forgot about it and didn't bring up the issue.

Thanks!

I use Thunderbird, with SSL ticked and port 995 for secure POP on the servers.

If the same doesn't work for you, open a ticket so we can check it with your login details

p.s. I deleted your duplicate post - but then you edited the second one, sorry.

Yes - I have been puzzling over what happened with the posts :) Looks like we crossed paths, anyway, no harm done.. Will open ticket as you suggest.

Thanks.
