swissair Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 (edited) Hi, I've written my own RSS feed for my personal photoblog, but for some reason feed readers will not detect updates to my feed! They will however load the feed and the feed does validate... Could anyone in the know take a look at my feed and the response headers and see if you notice my error?? The feed: http://photos.riehl.ca/feed The Response Headers: >Date: Mon, 09 Oct 2006 05:35:24 GMT Server: Apache Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT Cache-Control: no-cache, must-revalidate, max-age=0 Pragma: no-cache Last-Modified: Sun, 08 Oct 2006 17:37:23 GMT Etag: "240af17993da1f24172417e2f109bece" Content-Type: text/xml; charset=UTF-8 Everything is based on how wordpress does feeds and headers. When I test my wordpress feed in my reader, the updates show immediately... Thank you so much for any help! -Trev Edited October 9, 2006 by swissair Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I've never tried generating my own feed but there are a couple of free RSS generators available for download at Snapfiles. Quote
carbonize Posted October 10, 2006 Posted October 10, 2006 Have a look at http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss but at a guess I'd say it's because you are not sending lastBuildDate. lastBuildDate - The last time the content of the channel changed. Quote
