makaveli Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Just more of a curious question as this is a mainly american based forum. on another forum i was dicussing the "blaydon races" which is a historic race in my home area. people simply down london and further south have not even heard of it!!! so im asking really does anyone here know what it is? official site wikipedia entry i was going to run this year but missed application deadlines Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Never heard of it but is it in your part of the UK they talk "mackem"? Quote
makaveli Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 Close, There is Newcastle Upon Tyne (more my part) where they speak geordie. (sead Jaw-dee) Sunderland (on the river wear) is "mackem land" here wikipedia on what Geordie and Mackem is Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Ok. Reason I ask is because I have a friend in Sunderland who I have trouble to understand on the phone etc because of her mackem talk. Btw... her husband have problem understading her too (he is from London), which makes me happy knowing I am not alone. Quote
