Here is what I want to do:

 

1. Move my blogging site (moyey.blogspot.com) from blogger.com to a place where I have control over the whole thing. (Preferably on my own computer).

 

2. Purchase some easy-to-use software that will allow me to add posts in a way that is more flexible, reliable, and easy to back up and restore than blogger.

 

3. Post to a domain of my choosing.

 

Can you help me with that? Is there a piece of software that will work seamlessly with your hosting service?

You could host it here on your own webspace, with a local backup copy on your home computer.

You can use Wordpress or Moveable Type, both free and very powerful blogging applications. Also easy to backup.

 

3. Post to a domain of my choosing.

Host it here. Choose your domain.

We've helped many make the transition from Blogger to their own sites. I'd recommend Wordpress or Moveable Type. Either will run fine here.

I've been using blogger for some time. Over a year and a half ago I stopped using the *.blogspot.com and set blogger up to FTP my posts over to my site hosted here at TCH. Recently, however, I've been considering installing WordPress and importing my blogger posts. I'm right now experimenting making a custom theme for wordpress, so I can make the transition seamless. Let us know how things go for you if you decide to move your blog here to TCH
