Irina Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Hi. My question is rather straightforward. I'm not very familiar with the different segments of the CPanel, and I've tried checking both AwStats and the Bandwidth tool, but I can't seem to locate anything that will tell me how many times a particular file has been downloaded. Is that tracked, and where can I find those stats, if it is? Thanks so much! Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I'd start in AwStats. Scroll down to the section named pages and click on Full List for a complete list of pages or zip files. If you are looking for how many times an image file was taken you will need to study the log files. You can download your log files. Select Raw Log File in cPanel. The file contained in the zip file you download is a text file that you can open with any text editor. Quote
Irina Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 That was very helpful. Thanks, Bruce! If I may ask -- I got the raw access logs and did a search for the file name of the file I wanted to check up on. It came up 30 times, while in AwStats, the file was listed as having been accessed 7 times. Is there a reason for the discrepancy? I don't really understand raw access logs and what all those words mean, so I'm sorry. I really appreciate the help. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 The difference could be because awstats is reporting from the last time it was run and the raw log contains complete data. Or, awstats is only reporting successful downloads of the file. Quote
Irina Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 Ah, that makes sense. Although... Awstats reports Entry and Exit, right, so I figure that Exit - Entry = the number of unsuccessful downloads? Thanks again, Bruce! Quote
