Importing Existing Phpbb D/b Into Mysql

Hi everyone.

 

I'm experimenting with a PHPbb forum, currently got a test one set up. What I want to do is to import a MySQL database from another PHPbb forum I have elsewhere as part of my testing to ensure I can actually do that prior to getting the eventual forum up and running here.

 

Trouble is, I can't see how to do it. The only option within my test PHPbb forum that I can see is to retrieve a backup. As both my test forum and the other one are runnign exactly the same version of PHPbb, I figured I can do it that way.

 

Well, I ran into the error described in the PHPbb knowledge base on the 2Mb file limit for doing such things (my d/b is just over 2 megs). There's a documented workaround there which involves FTP'ing the SQL file to the server and doing it via MyPHPAdmin.

 

Did those things, but the FTP'd file doesn't appear in the MyPHPAdmin list of databases.

 

I think I'm doing something wrong here but cannot see what! Any suggestions on what I need to look at again?

Thanks, Don. I'll try the suggestion there.

 

Not wholly confident, though, as I don't have one thing that posts mentions - the complete forum. All I have from the forum service is the forum database itself.
