Auto-deleting Email?

Ok, I have a webmail app called Just Another Webmail installed. It works well, using IMAP.

However, we have several addresses for our corporate site forwarding to our employee's 3rd party email addresses. The forwarding works well, but we've now got reports that messages are bouncing from the company addresses.

When I checked their inboxes, the forwarded messages are not being deleted from the server.

I know that if I was using POP3 sessions, I could set aging to like 1 day. However, since we're using IMAP, how can I arrange to have messages on these forwarded accounts automatically delete so their mailboxes don't fill up??

It sounds like you have both and account and a forward setup

I think you just need a forward to do what you want.

 

Or is this a problem with the web mail app you installed?

yeah, that was it.

I had both email accounts AND forwarders setup. I didn't realize they were mutually exclusive.

I apologize for opening up an old thread, but I ran into a similar issue. I just want to confirm some things before I delete the email acct.

 

Based on the discussion above, it appears that email forwarding can happen without having an acct.

 

I currently have:

 

em1@domain forwarded to acct1@domain

em2@domain forwarded to acct1@domain

 

acct1@domain forwarded to em@isp

 

Currently, my acct1@domain is filling up dramatically and I wanted to setup some type of auto delete. However, based on the discussion, this is not necessary.

 

Would the following situation work:

 

If I delete acct1@domain

would my em1@domain and em2@domain still be forwarded to em@isp?

If I understand your current setup and question correctly...

 

You would need to forward em1@domain and em2@domain to your isp instead of acct1@domain for this to work.

After thinking about this a bit, I guess the easiest solution would be to set up the following forwarders:

 

em1@domain -> em@isp

em2@domain -> em@isp

 

This way, I would bypass the acct1@domain all together.

 

Correct? Any flaws in the logic above?

or if you want them as accounts

you can check them with your computers e-mail client

and they won't fill up.
