kempo Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Hi chaps, I have had my Fujitsu Siemens D Amilo 7830 D for bout 18 months, but now it won't turn on. The lights (i.e. CAPS, NUM lock etc) all turn on and stay on for bout 3 secs then the Laptop shuts off. I can't open the DVD drive to launch the repair CD! Any suggestions. Have tried running the power down, but that has not worked. Thanks muchly Kempo Quote
Madmanmcp Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Hi Kempo, 1st locate a small paperclip and then straighten out one or two of the curves to make a short rod that you can hold with the other two curved parts. Now on the front of the DVD/CD drive door try and locate a very small hole and insert the paperclip. This is a manual release for the drive and if done correctly the drive should open without any power. Put in your CD and good luck with the rest of your repair. Quote
stevevan Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Welcome to the forums, kempo. Personally, I'd try about a 5 lb alignment tool called "Sledge-o-Matic"! Seriously, it kinda sounds like a power issue. Are you running it on battery power only or on AC power? Quote
Madmanmcp Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 I was also thinking low power or even being stuck in hibernate. Most laptops also come with a "reset" button. This is usually located on the the bottom of the Laptop and you also use the paperclip in the hole to "open" the circuit and reset the power. I would also remove the AC power adaptor and remove the battery to reset the power. Quote
