Hello everyone :tchrocks:

My site leemac.net is about to expire (my payment to the host is gonna expire that is) and its hosted somewhere else, not TCH. Now, when I started with them, I got the domain for free, now I want to move to TCH because my other host has no...

php

cgi

statistics

terrible cpanel

no forums (Forums give me idea as to the tech support, and how much ppl like the host)

now my question is, can I move that domain to TCH? I'd post the name of the other host (which is terrible) but its probably most likely not allowed.

So, even though I created the domain through them, can i move it? I dont have any info other than the name for the domain. :/

thx! Hope to move on over to TCH soon  ;)

Is the domain registered in your name?

Is your e-mail address listed as the owner?

see whois

Do you have a place to log in and change the DNS?

If your e-mail listed as the owner,

you may be able to transfer it to where ever you want.

Bad news, Lee.

I did a whois search on your domain name, and it looks like you are the administrative and registrant contacts, but your old host is the billing and technical contacts.

The whois also shows the following status: CLIENT-TRANSFER-PROHIBITED

Since you got your domain for free, it looks like you don't own it, so your old host will probably be not-so-friendly about giving you control of the domain, or letting you point your nameservers elsewhere.

You will have to contact your old host to see if they will allow you to transfer your nameservers elsewhere, or if they will allow you to transfer the domain to a different registrar.

That is my best guess, based on what I can see in your whois record.

Good luck.
