tpr55 Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 re: need a new battery for a Compaq Presario 2100, bought it a yr ago for my college kid, refurb through HP. The stock battery never did work very well, so he never used much off AC power. Now I want to get him a usable battery for the new school year. Went to HPshopping.com where I bought the laptop; the one choice is Li-Ion but I noticed the dimensions are pretty big so must be intended to snap into the case from the outside...........? Searching the web I see some smaller choices, but they're Nimh. so questions- 1- which is preferable, Nimh or Li-Ion (from a performance anle)? 2- do the Li-Ion batteries I mentioned really have to be used externally? Isn't that inconvenient for laptop use? My guess is that the Li-Ions have more lasting power, but the Nimh may be more convenient in that it replaces the current battery inside the case.......? Appreciate any thoughts on this!! Quote
TweezerMan Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Welcome to the forums, tpr55! 1) From what I understand Li-Ion batteries typically last longer per charge than Ni-MH batteries do. 2) I think you just need to shop around some other web sites and find a Li-Ion battery that fits your model of laptop.
