queenpictoria Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 I am new and just haven't absorbed all the content just yet. I am submitting my new website to search engines and I get the following comment: "This site does not provide robots.txt file or it is not constructed properly." I made a folder named "robots.txt" in my public_html folder on the domain, and have meta tags on each page: <meta name="robots" content="index, follow"> I am not sure what I am doing-- behind the curve a bit. I am reading the information suggested, and it hasn't sunk in just yet. A primer would be appreciated. I am working on being patient with myself, and I hope I don't ask too much. Please let me know how I can correctly install the robots.txt file. Also please let me know if I am asking too much. I am old enough to know how that works. Help/Support threw me back in the swim. Thanks, Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 11, 2005 Posted July 11, 2005 Robots.txt is a file not a folder. it goes in your public_html folder. Here is a site for more information. And this one has a robots file generator. Quote
