travelwebmaster Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I just signed up for a new hosting plan for my new website, but I am having difficulty logging into the SmartFTP. Is there something I need to do before I set up my server? I am using the login name and password provided to me, but it just doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. cajunman4life Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Just to be sure, make sure you are using ftp.yourdomainname.com(/net/org/whatever you use). Port is 21 (standard). Login name is your cpanel user name, password is the password you created (or what was provided to you). If that doesn't work, try enabling passive mode (I haven't used SmartFTP in quite a while, so I've forgotten where to find that setting). I also highly recommend FileZilla as my Windows FTP client, however if you're comfortable with SmartFTP then by all means continue. Let us know if that doesn't work out, I'll look a little deeper into how mine is set up. Quote
