Ipod Competition

Hey guys, I missed the iPod contest, but I decided to post pictures of my "work" area (located at home). There are currently 4 machines on this shelving unit (2 servers, and 2 old desktops that I turned in to servers). Here goes: (please excuse the mess, click thumbs for bigger image, but be nice!)

 

Here you see the upper half of my shelf, with the monitor along with KVM switch in the middle. You see Tux standing guard by my switch.

 

And here is the bottom half, partially blocked by my dresser and TV. What a mess!

 

Now we see a "full frontal" of the top shelves. The machine at the top is an IBM 300PL, which my other site currently runs on. This machine runs Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (Sarge). Below that is my old web server, an IBM 300GL. Currently it serves as my backup web server and DMZ server, and runs FreeBSD 5.3.

 

And now, my favorite server. It's an HP NetServer LPr, and it's earmarked to be my other site's web server very soon. It very happily runs Gentoo Linux. Previously it ran Solaris 9 x86 and Fedora Core 3.

 

Here's a peek at my "dust collector." I call it that because that's all it's doing; I haven't had it on in quite a while. It's too noisy. Anyways it's a Compaq 6400R quad Xeon with 1.2GB RAM. It's a great machine, but far too loud for my bedroom. It runs Fedora Core 3.

 

And finally, a picture of my favorite host's website loaded in Mozilla (running from my Gentoo server... Don't ask why I run GNOME on a server... I still don't know for sure).

 

Well that's it for now folks. Maybe I'll get pictures of my cubicle at the office up soon. You would cry if you saw how cluttered my desk is... and to think, it was so clean when I started there only 4 1/2 months ago.

 

Anyone else for pictures? I'm curious to see other people's "setup"...

Just a quick mention... the CD you see sitting on top of the HP NetServer... it's the 1958 recording of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture by the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra (now called the Minnesota Symphony I believe). This is (as far as I'm concerned) the best version, complete with cannon fire and cathedral bells, just as Tchaikovsky intended.

 

Sorry, but I'm a bit of a classical music buff.

That's why I like watching the July 4th Concert of the Boston Pops every year on PBS.
