What's the number to use so I can use photos on my site, but the directory cannot be visible to other users?

It's set on 644 now, but the photos won't show up on my website.

Thanks :D

That is the standard permissions. Broken down it means.

6 owner can read/write to this file

4 members of the same group the owner belongs to can read the file

4 everyone else (world) can view the file

How are you trying to access the images?

On the web. If I type out the address of where my photos are, the entire list is there.

I don't want them accessible to the public. But I want to be able to use pictures from that directory to put on my front page.

I had it before, I just forgot the number. heh.

What you want to do is turn off the indexing of the folder where you have your photos. You can do this in cPanel.

Or you can put an empty index.html file in the same folder with the images that will load instead of producing an index list of images.
