Fredatuk Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Hi, I am in UK at present but moving to Turkey. I am not (nor ever have bben an American citizen). The services that I want to eventually sel will be aimed at clients in the UK and Turkey. Payment will come to my via paypal. I am looking for a reliable host - does it matter where it is hosted ? If I host with yourselves or any other US company - do I have anything to do with the US tax system ? Thanks for any advice. Quote
TweezerMan Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I believe the key to answering your question is whether your web site would constitute a "nexus" or establish a "presence" where the server is located that would be subject to U.S. federal or state taxes. Beyond having to pay sales taxes or any other tax imposed on the hosting service itself, my instinct is that the answer is "I don't think so" - a web site alone is not enough to establish a nexus or presence for taxation purposes. But as I'm not a tax attorney or accountant, and definitely don't know the state tax laws in every state, this is a question that is best answered by a competent professional. Quote
