Gemma Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Hi, First I just want to say that this is the first hosting company I have ever used and so far it's been great and very straightforward so thanks a lot. Now for my question...(probably the first of many!)... I have successfully managed to put Yahoo messenger on my website which shows whether I am online and when you click the icon you can talk directly with me. I'd like to do the same with MSN messenger (like TCH have on your site). How can I do this? I've searched on the internet to no avail. Thanks, Gemma Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Hi and welcome to the forums Gemma You can try TCH´s own online status icons. See this post for more info. Quote

Gemma Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 Hi, Thank you for your quick replies, it's nice to meet you all. Thank you Thomas for the link, it was very useful. The icon is now showing on my site with the correct status but when I click it nothing happens. Do you know why? Thanks guys Gemma Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Gemma do you have a link I could look at You can either PM it to me or post it here Quote
Gemma Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 Sure: www.higgins-abushaban.com Thanks Gemma Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Short answer: No Long answer: My theory is that each of the IM´s have their own similar services except for MSN. This means that you will have to go to each one to sign up, copy/paste codes etc. Instead the company that the TCH icons is powered by made these available from one place (means easier sign up, copy and paste etc) but with the limitation due to copyrights etc that you can only see on a site if the person is online but not contact it. But if you hover over the icon you will see the persons username on that particular service and you can if you have that service installed on your own computer talk to that person. Also, I have heard that MSN will never make a similar status-service like the other IM companies have, so for MSN I think this is the closest you will come. NOTE: This is just my theory about it. It may be some other technical or legal reasons etc that I don´t know about. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 I noticed Robert had asked about a link to your site, so I peeked at it too. It looks nice in I.E but you may want to have a look at it through Firefox. I could not navigate in the menu for some reason. But in I.E it looks great. Quote
Gemma Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 Oh well, if you think of anything else please let me know. Thanks for all you help Gemma Quote

TCH-RobertM Posted February 18, 2005 Posted February 18, 2005 Gemma after doing some more tests , I find that if I test the code locally it appears to work ok. I am going to have to dig into why it will not launch the MSN application when I FTP the code to my server If I find out why this is occurring I will post back here Quote
Gemma Posted February 20, 2005 Author Posted February 20, 2005 Thanks Robert, it would be great if you can fix this. Hello Raul, thanks for the welcome Quote
TCH-RobertM Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Gemma , just an update I have not been able to find out why this is not working. Sorry Maybe someone else might know of a reason Quote
