gacain Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Greetings, I seem to be having this problem a lot with Norton AntiVirus lately. I have the 2003 release installed on one user's system. There is a "prevent server time out" option, which I have checked. I also have the option checked that tells Norton to try to repair an infected file and if unable to just delete it. But Norton doesn't do that. It puts a message up on the user's screen that tells him he has an infected file, and then his connection to the TCH email server times out, so he is unable to retrieve his mail. I then have to go to webmail and try to determine which message contains the infected file. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas about a solution? (Also posting this in the software section). Thanks. Greg Quote

TCH-Thomas Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Sorry, don´t know the answer to this one. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I merged the posts. Please do not cross post. We read all forum posts. Sorry can't help with your Norton problem since I don't use it. Maybe someone else that uses it will be able to offer assistance. Quote
gacain Posted February 17, 2005 Author Posted February 17, 2005 Thanks for your response, and sorry for the 'cross-post'. I'm not married to Norton, in fact I'm using AVG at home and I love it. Any suggestions for other email-checking anti-virus solutions that may behave better? Thanks, Greg I merged the posts. Please do not cross post. We read all forum posts. TCH-Bruce Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I use both AVG and EZAntiVirus and they both scan email. I don't use them together, I use them on separeate machines. I have not encountered any problems with either. Quote
TCH-Don Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I use Norton and do not have that problem. if a virus comes in I just see a note from norton in the place where the e-mail would be about the virus detected and deleted (thats the way I set up my options) Quote
stevevan Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I too use Norton and haven't had the problem. Strange indeed! Quote
