lateralus Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Hello all, I'm trying to install movable type and I'm running in to errors and I could use some help. I followed the instructions here Step 1 --- no problem Step 2 --- Database name = garetxx_mtdatabase Database user = garetxx_garetxx garet has full admin access to database. Step 3 --- CGIPath http://www.peterheisey.com/mt/ # DataSource ./db ObjectDriver DBI::mysql Database garetxx_mtdatabase DBUser garetxx_garetxx # DBHost localhost I put my password in mt-db-pass.cgi http://www.peterheisey.com/mt/mt-load.cgi Gives me this error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@peterheisey.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Apache/1.3.33 Server at www.peterheisey.com Port 80 http://www.peterheisey.com/mt/mt.cgi Gives me the login screen but when I try to login in get an invalid login. Anybody have any suggestions it would be much appreciated. If you need any more information please let me know. Thanks! Quote
LisaJill Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 You can't login if you haven't done the database thing. Have you checked that you set the permissions on mt-load.cgi to 755? And also, that you uploaded it in ASCII mode? These are the two most common causes of 500 errors. Quote

I did have to change the permissions to 755 and after I did that I was albe to run mt-load.cgi then it told me to delete me-load.cgi so I did. Thanks! However I am still not able to log in.
