SirGolan Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Hi all, I've been a reseller customer of TCH for a while now. I run my own mail server for a few of the domains I host with TCH. This has worked fine up until today. It appears that my ISP has decided to stop people from running their own mail servers. So all inbound traffic on port 25 is now blocked. (Outbound port 25 has been blocked for a while, and all port 80 req's go through a silent proxy. What happened to good old vanilla internet access?) I was wondering if TCH would be able to receive mail for a couple of my domains and then forward it out to my mailserver on say port 26 or something. Since there will likely be some mailserver configuration involved, I understand if you could not do this. There are other services around that do this for a fee (Most of the dynamic dns places do). So, it may be something that other TCH customers are interested. Deverill Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I too do not know the answer but want to welcome you here. Is choosing a new ISP an option? It is not the ultimate solution because any ISP you go with may get flakey with time but it may be worth considering. I have BellSouth DSL and for a small extra fee you can get a static IP and possibly other ISPs will have a "leave my mail alone" feature. Quote
SirGolan Posted January 29, 2005 Author Posted January 29, 2005 Thanks for the welcome.. I opened a ticket as requested. The official answer is that TCH will not do this. As I said, I understand-- it involves extra sendmail config. Changing ISPs is definitely a good idea, or at least checking out other options with this one. Anyway, thank you for the replies. I have found a workaround that will be ok until I can find an ISP that is less restrictive. I can explain if anyone is interested. Thanks again, Mike Quote
