OldTimer Posted January 25, 2005 Posted January 25, 2005 Hi folks, Remember reading on the board here that you don't allow the mass email feature that phpBB has. So what do I do to use as an alternative? Note - I just started tinkering around with phpBB, so this won't be a problem at this time. Just thinking ahead. Can I get the password for the Family Forums. Website is ontalkradio.com Thanks, Greg Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 You may want to look into DadaMail http://mojo.skazat.com/ Quote
Ayman Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Is mass mail in phpBB really not allowed? I have a ~300 members forum, and I need to send emails to them from time to time, I don't see what's wrong with that as long as I don't abuse the feature and use it often. Any input on the issue? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Ayman, We have things set up so that people cannot abuse our servers. These settings have little effect on most people but those with larger lists will run into problems. Some scripts will allow you to send in batches but we are unable to change our settings on a per account basis. It really is done for the protection of all of the users on a server. I am sure you would not like it if another user on your server was tying up all of the resources sending thousands of email or got your server blacklisted from the places you were trying to send your email to. Ayman Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 I understand that completely, I thought that the whole phpBB mass mail thing isn't allowed, if that's the case then I'm all for it Very impressed by the service so far BTW, keep up the great work Quote
TCH-Rob Posted January 26, 2005 Posted January 26, 2005 Ayman, Thanks for understanding. I am glad you like things so far, this really is a family effort that makes things run so smoothly around here. Quote
