Transfer Domain

Hey

 

Just wondering how i can transfer my domain thats hosted at *removed* to you?

 

I'm not very happy with my current host since they got loads of bad limits. (Cant use my IPB forums / portal properly).

If you mean host your site here, just sign up for an account,

create your site here using the info in your welcome e-mail.

When you are happy its looks good,

change the DNS for your domain name to the name servers in your welcome e-mail at your domain registar.

So what would i need to do with my domain? Just contact the current host and get them to move it or what?

After you get your hosting account setup

you can log into your domain name control panel where ever that is

and change the DNS to your new account here.

 

if you want to transfer the domain name, that is seperate,

wait til the site here is active.

then transfer it to where ever you wish,

or you can transfer it here to TCH.

Also if your current host has cpanel

you can open a help ticket to ask if the techs can trasfer your site.

they will need your current host account details and will try, it will normally work.

They will create a backup on your current site, so be sure there is room.

I'm not sure if i got any cp for my domain really, only thing i got with my current host is e-mail admin and so on.

 

BTW, is there any spam/virus filters on the mail server?

In your cpanel here (web site control panel) which you are going to love!

under e-mail you can enable spam assassin, and add good e-mails that are flagged as spam to your white list.

 

No virus, you will still need an anti virus program on your computer when you check e-mail.

Ok you will need to upload your site by ftp then,

it was worth a try

be sure to upload to the public_html folder as per your welcome e-mail.

So it should be possible to transfer the whole IPB forum to the new site then (mysql db ++) and just change the conf_global.php file with the new db settings?

I think if you download the forum folder and ftp it here

make a mysql backup from your current host,

and create the same database here in cpanel mysql,

then in mysql admin (phpMyAdmin) import the backup,

it should work.

nice, I'll e-mail my current host about the domain tomorrow. If I order a site will it be available with a "temp" address so I can just redirect the old site while I wait for the transfer?

If you can change the DNS yourself you can wait and get your account here setup first then change the DNS and transfer later.

 

You will get a temp address in the form of server/~username.
