Hi, I'm new in the neighborhood. I just finished moving my blog over and now I want to do a little cosmetic enhancement.

I am curious as to how I can set up a cover page for my site. Essentially, I would like for people to land on this cover page (http://octomoto.com/cover'>http://octomoto.com/cover) when they point their browsers to my general URL (http://octomoto.com) and then be redirected (or be able to click-thru; it doensn't matter which to me) to the main page (http://octomoto.com/index.php).

An example of what I want can be found by going to

Cheers,

The term you are looking for is "splash page" i the uh.. industry. or something. =)

The way you would do this is to have index.html be the splash page, and then put in a redirect and a link (in case people don't want to wait) to the main page (say, main.htm).

Does that make sense?

pretty simple really , your site http://octomoto.com/ has a file named index.htm or index.html or index.php

rename that to main.whatever the extension currently is

then create a new file that you want to be your Banner page and save it as

index.htm

see when folks type your URL it looks for index.htm (php, html) if it exists it automatically loads it

on the new page you create just make sure you put a link to the page that currently exists

make sense....?

Thanks for the kind words of welcome, and for the advice. You guys are super fast.

I suppose renaming my 'index.php' page to 'main.php', and then renaming the cover page to 'index.php' is simple enough. But I am worried that this might interfere with wordpress (the content management application that I use to blog). can you tell me whether my worries are unfounded?

thanx.

I tried your suggestions and I think it worked! Let's hope this thing doesn't blow up. I've grown to live in fear of these things as I'm a novice and had my fair share of website maintenance issues.

Thanks, though.
