kellybellydotnet Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 I'm currently hosting a friend's sister's website on my reseller account. Her site was recently linked to from a fairly popular design website, and she recently sent out about 500 informational postcards (with 1000 or so being sent out soon), so she's had nearly 900 hits in the past few days. For most sites it probably wouldn't be a problem, but because her site is extremely graphic-intensive (she's an illustrator) her bandwidth has skyrocketed. I've had to up her bandwidth twice today. I have enough available bandwidth on my reseller account to cover whatever she would need in the short term, but I'd prefer not to sacrifice a large chunk of it for her site (especially since she's currently not paying me for hosting). I briefly mentioned that she probably should pay for a virtual hosting account and get her site off of my reseller account, since even the smallest hosting package is more than I could offer her. I know that there are a few ways to transfer an old site over to new hosting, but this really would be the first time I have had to do so. Sooo... my question is: If we were to purchase a virtual hosting account for her website, what does a Cpanel-to-Cpanel transfer copy over? Our main worry is getting her existing mailbox copied over, since she strictly uses the web to read her mail and has a decent amount of saved e-mails (a lot of them regarding work). She does not have her own computer, so downloading everything via an e-mail client is out of the question. Or would we have to restore her site from a full backup to get keep her saved e-mails? Is it even possible (I read a few posts regarding this, but I didn't get a clear answer)? Quote
TCH-Don Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 After she gets her hosting account you can open a help desk ticket to ask the techs to move it from your account to hers. It will move everything including e-mail The techs will need your account info and her new account info. if you like you can open a ticket now to find the best way to start. Quote
