NedWreck Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 Hi! I used to have publichealthlaw.org. I never got it running thanks to my ignorance. TotalChoice did my hosting but like an idiot, I registered my URL somewheres else. I should still have an account with TotalChoice (I think) although I don't have that URL anymore. How do I register a new name to an existing account? I faqed and searched and couldn't find an answer so I thought I'd ask here. If this is the wrong forum for this type of question, please accept my apolgies. Bob Quote
LisaJill Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 You first need to make sure that you have an account with TCH. =) Then submit a ticket to the Help Desk including your username and ask them to park it for you. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted December 6, 2004 Posted December 6, 2004 This is what I found for the domain Domain ID:D94373217-LROR Domain Name:PUBLICHEALTHLAW.ORG Created On:25-Jan-2003 04:54:07 UTC Last Updated On:07-Nov-2003 19:16:37 UTC Expiration Date:25-Jan-2008 04:54:07 UTC Sponsoring Registrar:Spot Domain LLC dba Domainsite.com and Name.com (R87-LROR) Status:OK Registrant ID:dsite-182053 Registrant Name:Nunya Bidness Registrant Organization:The Oppression Removal Group Registrant Street1:5440 Orphite Rd Registrant Street2: Registrant Street3: Registrant City:Dumptruck Registrant State/Province:MS Registrant Postal Code:39503 Registrant Country:US Registrant Phone:+1.6010000000 Registrant Email: Name Server:NS9.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM Name Server:NS10.TOTALCHOICEHOSTING.COM So the domain may be yours if this is you, until 2008. The site is still there, well at least there are some of your files so I assume you still have an account. Quote
NedWreck Posted December 7, 2004 Author Posted December 7, 2004 'Tis me, allright. Up til now, I couldn't get it to load in a browser. I still can't go to CPanel even though I know my username and password are correct. So, now that we know I'm still a customer, how do I register a new domain name for it? Thanks for your help, btw. Madmanmcp Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 So, now that we know I'm still a customer, how do I register a new domain name for it?You don't need a new domain, your old one is yours till 2008 and it is already pointing to TCH. Just use what you have. I still can't go to CPanel even though I know my username and password are correct. passwords are case sensitive, be sure you have the case correct. If not submit a helpdesk ticket and have them help you with the forgotten password. I couldn't get it to load in a browser. You are missing the default start page, an index.html for instance. Without one of these default startup files you only get a directory listing of all the files and folders. So start with that, build your first page and run with wht you got...you are already set with everything else. Quote

Bob You could just purchase a new domain and have it parked over top of the one you currently have. Then people can enter your new or old domain name and get to your site. To park the new domain open a Help Desk ticket. (link above) Edited December 7, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
Madmanmcp Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 Purchasing a second domain and parking it will leave him exactly where he is now...except a little poorer and with two URL's that don't work. He needs to upload some web pages to get the current site working. He has an account here and he has a domain pointing to here. When you go to the domain you are shown his files and folders. A couple of image files and an image folder and so on. I think nedwreck was asking the wrong questions initially. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted December 7, 2004 Posted December 7, 2004 You are correct Bob. He should open a Help Desk ticket and have his password changed so he can login to cPanel. Quote
