gweilo8888 Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Hi all I'm trying to temporarily enable anonymous FTP access for one of my domains, to allow a friend to upload a file for me. I've tried on two different domains to enable this through CPanel, from the "Anonymous FTP Controls" screen. The problem I'm having is that regardless of whether "Allow anonymous access to ftp://ftp.sitename.com" and "Allow anonymous uploads to ftp://ftp.sitename.com/incoming" are checked or not, I cannot connect via anonymous FTP to the server. Anybody who can help me figure this out, please? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 Anonymous FTP is no longer supported. You will have to create an FTP account for your friend to upload the file. You should create a folder inside your public_html folder and give the FTP account access to that folder only. Quote
gweilo8888 Posted October 7, 2004 Author Posted October 7, 2004 Sorry to hear that (thanks for the quick reply, though). If anonymous FTP isn't possible, would it be an idea to remove that page from people's CPanels? Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted October 7, 2004 Posted October 7, 2004 TCH does not control what cPanel supplies. The anonymous login is disabled on all servers for security reasons. Quote
