Xp Sp2

Ok... This might not be the right forum for this, but here goes.

 

I recently installed XP SP2 on my laptop. Now, I can't use the DVD/CDRW drive to burn CD's. When I try, it tells me that there is no CD in the drive. Also, NERO no longer sees the drive at all. I can put CDs in and read them just fine. It was working until I installed SP2. I tried uninstalling the new Hi-MAT but that did not resolve it.

 

Anyone have any thoughts, ideas, or know a site where I might get better results for this problem?

I did look at that article. I have the firewall turned off since I am behind a hardware firewall.

 

I received another reply from another forum that says I may have to update Nero. apparently there is a conflict between Nero and SP2 that makes the drive look like a read only drive. I am going to look into that now. I'll keep you posted.

Which Nero version do you have?

I have 6.x + XP sp 2 with no problem.

You also may want to be sure there are no updates for your machine from the vendor that apply to SP2.

The problem is caused by SP2 and you need to download the updates from Nero. As soon as I downloaded and installed them the CD burning problem was fixed.

You hit the nail on the head!! After I downloaded and installed the newest Nero everything went back to normal. Didn't realize that the Nero engine would affect so many other programs.
