I am tring to accomplish a url rewrite from say *****/anydir to *****/index.php?id=anydir. To this end I have set up the following in my .htaccess file, and uploaded this file to my www directory. Unfortunately though, it does not work. Actually, I can't seem to get any mod rewrite stuf to work, any pointers? Thanks -- John

RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d

RewriteRule ^.*$ - [L]

RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/$ index.php?cat=$1 [L]
