alyussium Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Hello . I'm running my website on a french host, but right now, I don't have enough space to all my content. I'd like to keep my website on this host and buy one of your offers here to be able to put my files on it (not my whole website... for now). Can I do that? I've tried to subscribe to one of your offer, and it is asked to indicated the domain name I'll use... But maybe I won't use one for this (what I want to say is I'll just put files here, so I'll just link here from my website). Oh, I don't want to move my whole website to another host for 2 main reasons: 1) I bought my previous hosting for one years in april, 2) I'm using Xoops and I'm afraid about losing data when transferring to another host. Maybe you'd like to see my website... Oh, just check my profile Thanks in advance for your reply! P.S.: I've already posted this question to other "hosting websites", so, maybe you'll see it somewhere... I've been watching your website and the link you provided to "findmyhosting.com" and it seems your uptime is great . Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 (edited) Hi alyussium, You can still sign up here. When prompted for the domain name enter your current domain name even though you will not host it here. A domain name is required to open an account. With out a domain name you will have to access content on the TCH servers using the "IP/~user name" convention but it will work. You will not be able to receive or send email without a domain name through TCH. Edited July 25, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
alyussium Posted July 25, 2004 Author Posted July 25, 2004 Hi Bruce and thanks for your reply . I've to talk about the hosting with my "friends" on my website before jump to another host, so I don't know yet where we'll move. Anyway, even if we don't move here, I can say that, in your forums, all people seems to be kind and happy Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Welcome alyussium If you backup the database for xoops on your current host, you can install xoops here and restore the database to see how well it will work here. If you have any questions please ask Quote
