Pamm Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 It was just brought to my attention that our emos are all little red x's! I checked and they're right where they should be in the board folder. I'm at a loss.. anyone have any ideas? This is the stubborn git of a board errr... never mind, I think I just figgered it out after I posted... blasted hotlink protection again.. that wasn't it apparently *sighs* Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 It looks good now, it may have been the hotlink. After turning it off, you may need to use control-F5 to force a reload of the images. Quote
Pamm Posted July 5, 2004 Author Posted July 5, 2004 I ended up moving the av and emo directories to the root folder. For some reason they're working from there, but not from where they're supposed to. It's just doing this to me cause we're getting ready to open to the public, I know it! Thing is I really do need to turn on hotlink protection at some point, as part of the site is a dolling forum, and there are some not-too-bright people who seem to think they can hotlink to doll sites. Thankfully there's a vigilant community who lets site owners know when they see such things but I'd still rather not take a chance And naturally none of my tech guys were around while I was trying to figger this out! Cheesh Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 When you turn hotlink on, I would keep a copy of the authorized sites in a text file. Sometimes I have to turn off hotlink, maybe something else I added corrupts the part of .htaccess that contains the list of sites, and it stops the images from showing even for authorized sites. So I turn it off, then later when I turn it back on, some of the sites are missing, so I keep a back up list in a text file. Quote
Pamm Posted July 5, 2004 Author Posted July 5, 2004 That's good advice, thank you I'll add yet another notepad to the ton I have.. what can I say, I'm an obsessive note taker! Quote
TCH-Don Posted July 5, 2004 Posted July 5, 2004 You may want to look at the text editor from www.notetab.com it can have many files open at once and have a favorites list like a browser. Quote
