  1. Thanks for the help. At least I know what the little buggers are called. Editing in the "edit file" rather than the html editor took care of the problem. I first noticed them when I uploaded the edited pages from Nvu. Sometimes another one was added every time I saved the file. I could count on them appearing directly before the copyright symbol.
  2. When I save my page (using the cpanel html editing software) sometimes there are capital "A" 's with little "hats" above them inserted by some of my text. Anyone know why? I've tried various ways of deleting them w/backspacing, copy/cut, delete key and highlight/spacebar. I've also tried deleting them on the 'html code' tab and on the 'design' tab. When I preview the page they are always gone, but come back after I save the page. Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the ideas. I unknowingly left my prior domain name lapse and have found that changing domain names is really time consuming. Although I've got the page links corrected, I'm still discovering ways this change is impacting my site. I learned a good lesson about keeping on top of things myself and not trusting someone else to take care of it. I tried your suggestion, Bruce, but I still got the same 2 error messages. I opened a ticket at the help desk. Maybe they can see what's wrong.
  4. I tried deleting the user and readding it with a new password. Still got the same 2 error codes. Any other ideas? Here's the full message: Authorization Required This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
  5. Thanks for the welcome. I entered the username I wished to change the password on, I entered a new password and clicked "change password". I got the results screen that said password changed. I Checked the site access on another opened browser window and couldn't get in. Got a 401 & a 404 error. Perhaps I didn't use the right button? Should I have used "add/modify existing user"? What's the difference between these 2 buttons? BTW, I've changed the extension on my domain name when I moved the site to TCH. Is this a possible reason for the access problem?
  6. I'm maintaining a site someone else built. My site has protected pages with username & password login. In Cpanel, how do I change the passwords on the protected subdirectories? I'd like new ones so my former colleague will not have access anymore. tks for the help
