Doing a search for a log viewer was an exercise in frustration for me, since I really didn't know what specifically I was looking for. For instance most of the search brought up many viewers for firewalls and routers...? Maybe that's what I needed but it didn't sound like it! Anyway - I finally found one that seems to do the trick and in case anyone else finds they need one this may save them some time: ( btw- this is freeware)

Unix Log Viewer - shareware
Files from Unix systems, such as access log files do not
have a CR+LF, they just have a CR. This utility exchanges
the CR with a CR+LF. Placed on the WinNT desktop, a file
can be pulled over the icon. The file is opened and displayed.
The converted file can be saved with a save dialog.
No registry changes are made.
