  1. Interestingly, after a good night's sleep, my machine and I can now login to the ftp site with the password that was unsuccessful yesterday. I'm pretty confident that I'm not doing anything different this morning -- in SmartFTP, for example, I was just using the cached entries for logging in. My next question -- I'd like to change the password from the auto-generated one to something that I pick. However, first, I'd like to understand why I couldn't login to ftp yesterday, and seemingly can login today without having changed anything. Might there be some kind of latency for the ftp server to recognize a new password? Thanks for any insight (and for the quick reply to my last post!)
  2. I either have a problem or am confused (or, plausibly, both). I reset my password in cPanel (via the link on the "3 strikes and you're out" page). This new password *does* allow me to login to cPanel. Trying to login via ftp (either using SmartFTP or the DOS ftp command-line interface) is unsuccessful, though -- both give the "530 login incorrect" error. Are there two different passwords for cPanel and ftp access? (And if so, how do I find out what my ftp password is?) Or if not, how do I get in from ftp? Thanks for any help!
